Storyboarding BSA 101 (Intro to Film) Week 9

BSA 101 (Intro to Film) Week 9

Story-boarding is the first step to visualizing your film. This process not only serves as a good way to pre-visualize your film and plan out how shots will fit together, but also as an effective tool of communication. A director or cinematographer can use storyboards to communicate to the heads of department exactly what is needed for a shot. Humans are visual creatures, we respond faster and more efficiently to pictures than to words - describing exactly what a shot needs to the crew on set takes much longer than simply showing them.

Story-Boarding example: Star Wars, 1977

For story-boarding arrows are often used to represent the movement and placement of characters or the camera.
