German Expressionism

Today we looked at German Expressionism, an artistic movement that originated in Europe during the 1920's.

The movement was about shunning western conventions, and instead take a subjective viewpoint by deliberately opting for a more distorted, less realistic viewpoint that ultimately better captures the essence of an object or state of mind.

The main film genres influenced by this movement were film-noir and horror.
