Broadcast Safe BSA 105 (Editing) Week 14

We learned about using colour correction and how to make sure that the picture is broadcast safe. If the picture or sound surpasses certain predetermined levels then the broadcasters will not air your footage.

There are different scopes available on Premiere that you can use to see if the picture is broadcast safe:

- Vectorscope HLS
- Histogram
- Parade (RGB)
- Waveform (LUMA)
- Vectorscope YUV

We also learned about two different ways that you can alter the colour of your video this week, Colour Grading is how you achieve an artistic look with your film whereas Colour Correction is the method through which the picture of your video is made broadcast safe.

  1. Or Colour correction mitigates colour balance mistakes in the footage. This post would benefit from a few visual examples?
